I, M R. X. Dentith, PhD (Auckland), am the author of The Philosophy of Conspiracy Theories (Palgrave Macmillan, 2014), the first single author, book-length treatment of the philosophical issues surrounding conspiracy theory. Along with a swath of articles, I am also the editor of two edited collections: Taking Conspiracy Theories Seriously (Rowman and Littlefield, 2018), and The Philosophy of Conspiracy Theories: Concepts, Methods and Theory (Routledge, 2024). I have also had the privilege to edit two journal special issues on the philosophy of conspiracy theories: 2023’s special issue of Social Epistemology and 2024’s special issue of Inquiry (co-edited with Julia Duetz and Melina Tsapos).
I am currently Associate Professor of Philosophy at Beijing Normal University at Zhuhai. Previously I was a Fellow both at the Institute for Research in the Humanities (ICUB) at the University of Bucharest, and New Europe College (also in Bucharest), as well as a Teaching Fellow at the University of Auckland and the University of Waikato.
My current research focuses on conspiracy theory, conspiracy theory theory, fake news, and secrecy.
